"I hate Valentine's Day," Orlando said with a scowl.
Viggo looked at the young man out of the corner of his eye. Orlando had been scowling all day when they weren't shooting. At the moment, he was scowling at his reflection in the mirror while unlacing his boots.
"And why is that?" Viggo asked mildly, pulling his tunic over his head.
One boot hit the floor with a thump. "I just do. It's a pathetic excuse for a holiday. Nothing but a marketing gimmick," Orlando grumbled, starting on the other boot.
"So, it doesn't retain its original meaning?" Viggo said.
He watched Orlando roll unnaturally blue eyes in the mirror. "Honestly, who gives a fuck about it?" There was another thump as the second boot hit the floor. "It's just a ploy to get you to shell out money on candy and roses and shite like that."
"Well, there are other ways of showing affection, you know. It doesn't have to be hearts and flowers. It can be passionate and exciting."
That elicited a disgruntled noise from Orlando.
Viggo changed tack. He watched Orlando lean over the counter and take his contacts out. "You don't seem like the bitter, cynical type," Viggo commented casually while removing his fingerless leather gloves.
Orlando gave him an annoyed look before stripping his own tunic off. "Oh, and who is, then? Bean? You?"
Viggo crossed his arms over his bare chest. "I have reasons to be bitter and cynical. How about you?"
He didn't take his eyes off of Orlando, watched him until he felt the mask of irritation break.
Orlando sank into a chair, running his hands back over the ridiculous mohawk. "I... It's stupid."
"I'm sure it isn't."
Orlando looked up and Viggo could see the gratefulness in his eyes. "A girl dumped me on Valentine's Day a few years ago. I just hate seeing people with flowers and hearts, being all romantic. All that crap," he said, a faint blush creeping onto his freshly washed face.
Viggo stood there silently long enough to make Orlando squirm. "That's a good reason to hate Valentine's Day," Viggo finally said.
Orlando nodded once. He blinked, and suddenly Viggo's lips were on his.
He made a muffled, surprised sound, his eyes flying open. Viggo's lips were cool on his and faintly slick, like lip balm. Viggo's hands slid around to cup Orlando's head, fingers prickling against shorn hair, and Orlando unconsciously parted his lips.
Both the kiss and how good it felt surprised him. Viggo moved his lips, his beard scratching Orlando's skin, and touched Orlando's lips with his tongue. Orli moaned softly, opening his mouth and letting Viggo kiss him thoroughly, his own hands lifting to tangle in long hair.
The kiss went on for a long moment, the silence of it broken only by harsh breathing, until Orlando was shaking, heat building up inside of him. Viggo finally pulled back with a final brush of lips, straightening up. Orlando leaned back in the chair, feeling more than a little light-headed and strangely relaxed.
"Did that make your Valentine's Day any better?" Viggo asked with a small smile.
Orlando laughed. "Well, maybe a little," he replied.
"Is there anything else I can do to make it a memorable Valentine's Day? Something passionate and exciting?"
The not-so-subtle offer in Viggo's tone caught Orli off guard. "I expect there is," he said slowly, "but you have to promise me something."
Viggo let his eyes slide over Orlando's bare chest. "What's that?"
"No chocolate and roses."
Viggo grinned suddenly. "No chocolate and roses. Got it."
Reaching behind himself, he picked up a keyring from the vanity and tossed it to Orlando before pulling a clean t-shirt on and leaving the costume trailer.
Orlando jingled the keys for a moment, a smile playing on his face. Maybe Valentine's Day wasn't so bad after all.
